Free QR code generator for DaVinci Resolve
QR codes, straight from your timeline.
Illumin8 QR is a free, open source QR code tool built right into DaVinci Resolve. Type a link, drop it on your edit and get a razor sharp code that scans from the back row of a cinema.

Free forever · MIT open licence · Edit page + Fusion page · Mac, Windows, Linux
What it does
Everything a QR code needs. Nothing it doesn't.
Made for our own cinema ads at BIGSCREEN Hervey Bay, where a code has seconds to land. Now it's yours.
01
Lives inside Resolve
A native Fusion tool and Edit page generator. No exports, no PNGs, no round trips to a website.
02
Razor sharp at any size
Renders at full timeline resolution with pixel snapped modules, from HD socials to 4K cinema.
03
Built for the big screen
High error correction by default, a proper quiet zone and corner placement that keeps clear of your titles.
04
Your brand, your colours
Set the code and background colours, or drop the background entirely for a clean code over your design.
05
Presets that travel
Save a look per client, flick through them in the Inspector, and share the presets file with other editors.
06
SVG export for print
One click exports a vector SVG of the exact same code for posters, menus, flyers and the web.
How it works
Three steps. About a minute.
Step 1
Install
Quit Resolve. Copy the tool and the Edit page generator into your Fusion folder (full guide below), then relaunch.
Step 2
Drop it in
Edit page: Effects, Generators, Illumin8 QR Generator. Drag it onto the track above your shot.
Step 3
Type and scan
Paste your link, pick a corner and scan it straight off your monitor. That's it.

The real thing
Right in Resolve's Inspector
No mockup here. This is Illumin8 QR on a live Edit page timeline, exactly as you'll see it.
Every control where an editor expects it: link, error correction, size, position and quiet zone.
Code and background colours with Resolve's own colour pickers, keyframe diamonds and all.
Presets at the bottom: name it, save it, and flick through your looks with Prev and Next.
One click Export SVG, so print and social get the very same code.
Install guide
Where everything goes
Quit Resolve first. Everything lives inside your Fusion user folder, the same place your Fuses, Macros and LUTs already sit. Find yours:
Mac
~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/
In Finder press Cmd+Shift+G and paste the path. Library is hidden by default, so this is the quickest way in.
Windows
%APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\
Paste the path into the File Explorer address bar and hit Enter.
Linux
~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/Fusion/
Show hidden files in your file manager (Ctrl+H) to see the .local folder.
File 1 · The tool
Illumin8QR.fuse
Goes in Fuses/Illumin8/
This is the QR engine itself. It adds Illumin8 QR to the Fusion page (Shift+Space, type Illumin8 QR).
File 2 · The Edit page generator
Illumin8 QR Generator.setting
Goes in Templates/Edit/Generators/Illumin8/
Puts the generator in Effects, Generators on the Edit page, with every control in the Inspector.
File 3 · Your presets
Illumin8QR_Presets.txt
Lives in Illumin8/
Nothing to copy: it creates itself the first time you save a preset. Back it up, or hand it to another editor to share your looks.
Shortcut: the zip contains a Fusion folder laid out exactly like yours. Merge it over your Fusion folder and both files land in the right place. Create any folder that doesn't exist yet, relaunch Resolve, and you're away.

Good questions
Before you ask
Is it really free?
Yes. Free to download and free to use on client work, forever. The email just lets us send you the file, plus the odd update if you tick the box.
Will it break when Resolve updates?
Unlikely. It's a Fuse, a plain Lua script that Fusion runs directly, so there's no compiled plugin to fall out of date.
Mac only?
No. The same file runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. The install guide above covers the folder for each.
Can I change the code?
Please do. It's MIT licensed and the source sits right there in the file. Make it better and we'd love to hear about it.
